Low-code developer who also works beyond low-code

I've used Xano and WeWeb professionally to ship production software, but I also work directly with React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, APIs, SQL and custom integrations. I'm comfortable choosing between low-code and full-code based on the product, not forcing everything into one tool.

  • Production Xano + WeWeb
  • Direct SQL + PostgreSQL
  • React + TypeScript
  • Remote, UTC+1

Results

Measured on real projects.

  • 2+ yrson a production Xano/PostgreSQL backend
  • ~1.5 yrsa production WeWeb app evolved before the React move
  • Every pagelater migrated from WeWeb to React + TypeScript
  • 100+ → 1database operations consolidated into one direct query

Low-code in production

From Talent Match / Braint, a production ATS/CRM built at Soraia.

Xano backend

Where low-code is strong

  • Schema, relationships, REST APIs, business logic, triggers and background tasks on a production ATS/CRM.
  • When add-ons and generated queries got slow, I wrote direct database queries and added PostgreSQL, GIN and geospatial indexes.
  • Xano
  • PostgreSQL

WeWeb frontend

Fast to build, until the product outgrew it

  • Production WeWeb front end on Xano: candidates, companies, opportunities, Kanbans and dashboards.
  • As the product grew, page and component loading felt slow and maintenance got harder.
  • WeWeb
  • Xano

Migrating to React

When to move to full code

  • Validated React on an internal dashboard first, then replaced every WeWeb page with React + TypeScript, with another developer.
  • React pages were embedded in WeWeb during the transition and shipped in batches while the app stayed live.
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Cloudflare Workers

AI integration

Custom code inside a low-code backend

  • Persisted OpenAI embeddings for candidate matching, and asynchronous Google Vision + OpenAI CV enrichment, wired into Xano.
  • OpenAI
  • Google Vision

When low-code is useful, and when to move on

  • Ship internal tools and MVPs quickly on Xano + WeWeb
  • Write custom SQL when generated queries are too slow
  • Add AI features and external APIs to a low-code backend
  • Decide honestly when to stay on low-code and when to migrate
  • Run a staged migration from WeWeb to React + TypeScript

FAQ

Quick answers before we talk.

Are you a no-code developer?

No. I'm a full-stack developer who has used Xano and WeWeb professionally. I also work directly with React/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, SQL and APIs, and pick the tool based on the product.

When should we leave low-code?

When load times, maintainability or consistency start costing you every day. A production WeWeb app I worked on reached that point after about 1.5 years, and we migrated it to React in batches. See my WeWeb developer page.

Can you speed up a slow Xano backend?

Usually, yes: indexes, pagination, direct queries, join rewrites and trigger fixes. See my PostgreSQL performance page.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, from Oran, Algeria (UTC+1). See work with me.

How do we start?

Book a free call or email me at abdelmoulabilel2000@gmail.com with what you're building.

Let's build it properly

Tell me what's slow, messy or missing. A short call is enough to see if I can help.
